Fui aceptada para ilustrar una historia clásica para Pictorical, una editorial en línea como comentaba en mi post anterior. Estaré trabajando en cerca de 20 ilustraciones para el libro ¨La Piedra del Filósofo¨ de Andersen. Les comparto la primera ilustración, hecha con pasteles y tinta. Cuando termine el libro estará listo para comprarse en línea para Ipad o Ipod. Comenten plis! :)

I was accepted to illustrate a classic story for Pictorical, an editorial online, as I wrote in my last post. I'll be doing around 20 illustrations for Andersen's book, "The Philosopher's Stone", I share with you the very first one, done with pastels and ink. Once I finish the book, it will be ready to buy for Ipad or Ipod. Stay tuned! Comments very appreciated! ;)

Ilustración para el "Concurso Bicentenario" de México, organizado por Studio Xiii. Mi pieza se llama "Un mismo espíritu", donde Moctezuma (nuestros antepasados), Zapata (el movimiento revolucionario) y la calavera (México actual) representan uno mismo. En caso de ser seleccionado, será impreso en su publicación conmemorativa.

Illustration for the "Bicentenary Contest" organized by Studio Xiii from México. My piece is called "One single spirit", where Moctezuma (our ancestors), Zapata (the revolutionary movement) and the skull (Mexico now) represent one. In case to be selected, will be print in their commemorative publication.

WIT Magazine Calendar

Estaré participando con mi ilustración del Gato Negro para un proyecto de un calendario 2011 que la revista mexicana en línea WIT magazine está organizando. La finalidad es reunir a 12 ilustradores (as) mexicanos con una pieza que represente su trabajo y estilo. ¡De pura suerte entré al último puesto! Hice algunas modificaciones de la pieza que ya tenía, añandiendo un texto que escribí relativo a Noviembre (espero me den ese mes) y brillos morados. Me gustó bastante cómo quedó al final con la tipografía. El calendario tendrá un costo de $120.00 MX y será distribuido por correo bajo pedido a toda la República, a partir de mediados de Diciembre. Espero puedan adquirirlo pues sé que habrá muchos (as) buenos ilustradores participando. Échenle un ojo a la revista en línea, está bastante entretenida ;)

I'll be participating with my Black Cat illustration for a 2011 calendar project that the mexican magazine online WIT magazine is organizing. The point is to reunite 12 mexican illustrators with one piece that represents their work and style. I was very lucky 'cause I got the last space! I made some modifications of the piece that I already have, adding a text that I wrote, relating to November (I hope I get that month) and some purple lights. I liked a lot the final version with the type. The calendar will have a cost of $120.00 MX (like $10 Dlls) and will be distributed by mail in all Mexico, maybe on half of December. In case you want to get it if you are not in Mexico, post a comment here please. There will be many great mexican illustrators participating. Check the magazine online too, is very entertaining (though, is in spanish).

Party Girls entry contest!

Hace unas semanas participé en un concurso organizado por la agencia de ilustración Pickled Ink en Inglaterra, Reino Unido. Consistía en dibujar 5 páginas basados en la historia "Party Girls" escrita por Jenny McDade, la cual sería publicada próximamente como novela gráfica. Además había que diseñar varios personajes de la historia y la portada. Sonó como un proyecto piloto interesante así que decidí participar. Es uno de los primeros concursos de dibujo al que entro, y a pesar de que no gané, personalmente quedé satisfecha con mis resultados. Tenía rato sin dibujar un cómic. Les comparto la portada que realicé (con el título en tipografía dibujada a mano! :D, pintada en Corel Painter) además de una de las páginas del comic. El concurso lo encontre en la web www.contestwatchers.com, por si quisieran checar otros concursos internacionales de dibujo, pintura o diseño ;)

Few weeks ago I participated in a contest organized by the illustration agency Pickled Ink, based in London, UK. The purpose was drawing 5 pages based on the story "Party Girls" wrote by Jenny McDade, which would be published soon as a graphic novel. Also, some of the characters design and the cover had to be draw. It sounded like a very interesting pilot project, so I decided to participate. Was one of the first drawing contest that I apply to, and even when I didn't win, personally I was very satisfied with my results. Has been long since I draw a comic. I show you the cover that I made (with hand-made type! :D) and one of the comic pages. I found the contest in www.contestwatchers.com , in case you want to look for some international contests of drawing, painting or design ;)

Finalmente terminado! Hamsters vestidos! :) Esta era una idea que tenia hace un tiempo. No es encargo, lo hice por diversión y como práctica... y lo convertí en postal.

Finally done! Dressed hamsters! :) This was an idea I had long time ago. Wasn't a commission, I did it for fun and practice... and converted into a postcard.

Hace algún tiempo realicé algunas ilustraciones para la revista "Gastronómica de México", con una temática de comida mexicana en la época de los 50's. Siendo uno de mis primeros trabajos impresos propiamente, fue una experiencia muy gratificante, y también de aprendizaje. Se encuentra en Vips y Sanborns, esta muy buena, completa e interesante. Recomendada totalmente.

Few time ago, I made some illustrations for the magazine "Gastronómica de México" (Mexico Gastronomy), with the theme: mexican food in the 50's. Being one of my first proper printed works, was a very interesting experience, and also for learning. You can find it in Vips and Sanborns in Mexico, is a very good one, complete and entertaining. Totally recommended.
